Arguably the most exciting interior feature is the BMW Curved Display with iDrive 8 operating system. Along with a ‘floating’ armrest with integrated control panel which reduces the overall number of buttons. The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has been awarded five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests which demonstrates how safe the model is. 

This rating is thanks to the standard safety features which include airbags, automatic braking, speed lists assist, attention assist and lane assist. 

These features can be supported further with a range of safety options such as steering and lane control assist, active cruise control, active navigation and BMW Drive Recorder with Remote Theft functions. These functions allow the 2 Series to take over driving for small periods of time and provide additional support to the driver.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer comes with a range of petrol, diesel and hybrid engines meaning there is an engine available for every need.

The 220i and 223i models come with mild-hybrid engine technology which combines a petrol engine with an electric motor integrated into the automatic transmission which provides 19hp. The 220i has 170hp which allows the car to accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.1 seconds and the 223i has 218hp which allows acceleration from 0-62mph in 7 seconds.

The plug-in hybrid versions provide the most power and, if you regularly charge it, the most efficiency. 

There are two versions labelled as the 225e xDrive and the 230e xDrive. The 230e is the most powerful version with 326hp and 477 Nm torque. Both models can drive up to 57 miles on pure electric and can be recharged from 0-100% using a 7.4kW wallbox in 2.5 hours or using a domestic socket in 8 hours.

One of the many attributes of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is the practicality it offers. The Active Tourer is easy to get in and out of thanks to its raised ride height which also gives a great view of the road ahead. Inside there is plenty of storage spaces, with large door pockets, lots of cupholders, charging points and lockable storage areas.
