The Mercedes E-Class won the Class 6 section at the Caravan Club's Tow Car of the Year awards, beating rivals from across the SUV and saloon sectors.
Kitted out in the AMG trim line, the E-Class won the award for being the best vehicle for towing priced between £35,000 and £45,000.
Thanks to its first-rate efficiency statistics of 72.4mpg, impressive peak torque figures of 400Nm and exceptional 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic, the E-Class came out ahead of its market rivals, in what was a hard-fought sector.
Chairman of The Caravan Club, Grenville Chamberlain, said:
The judges were unanimous in their appreciation of this fine executive express which makes a very credible towcar alternative to a 4x4. The powerful, torquey, yet frugal diesel engine, twinned with an incredibly refined nine-speed automatic gearbox made for a joyful driving experience. This car feels absolutely unshakeable at speed.
After being given a new lease of life at the start of 2016, the E-Class range has gone from strength to strength, adding new technologies to help make it safe and one of the most advanced vehicles in its sector.
Available as a Saloon, Estate, Coupé, Cabriolet, and soon-to-be-released All-Terrain model, the E-Class has one of the widest selections in the industry.
The E-Class Saloon starts from £34,440, and to find out more about the model and to see it in the flesh, contact your nearest Inchcape Mercedes-Benz dealership.
