At Group 1 Audi, we highly recommend that you use a wall box to charge your electric Audi. However, occasionally you may want to charge your car using a 3-pin socket, therefore your electric Audi also comes with a Compact Charging System (Please speak with your local retailer as some of the compact charging system is currently unavailable with some of our TFSI e models), to help you connect.
Benefits of home charging include the following:
✔ Plug in and charge overnight for a full charge in the morning
✔ Take advantage of cheaper night time electricity rates
✔ Save trips to public charging stations with home charging
If using a domestic socket, please consult an electrician before plugging in for the first time. Contact an electrician before plugging into a domestic socket for the first time as suitability for charging using a domestic socket will depend on the condition of the wiring in your home. If the domestic socket is on the same circuit as other appliances, particularly those in frequent use, the additional amperage may be enough to trip a breaker switch.
Many electricity providers are even offering specific home electric vehicle tariffs which could make your running costs even cheaper. Plus you may be eligible to receive a government contribution towards the cost and installation of your home wall box. Find out more here.
There are now thousands of public charging stations across the UK. Backed by Government initiatives and spurred on by public demand, more and more charging points are being added to the public network every day. You can find Audi Charging Service points through your car's navigation or myAudi app.
