Group 1 Automotive was established in the UK in March 2007, when we acquired our first BMW and MINI dealerships in Brighton, Hailsham, and Worthing. Just a few years later, in March 2010, we expanded our network with the acquisition of Farnborough and Hindhead BMW and MINI dealerships, strengthening our presence across Hampshire and Surrey. In 2012, we welcomed Essex Audi into the Group 1 family, marking a significant milestone with six dealerships in the region. A few months later, we launched Think Ford, incorporating Ford Centres in Farnborough, Guildford, Wokingham, and Bracknell into our network.

Our growth continued with several key acquisitions, including the Elms Group in 2014, Spire Automotive in 2016, Beadles Group in 2017, Robinsons Motor Group in 2021, and L&L Automotive in 2024. In the same year, we made our largest acquisition to date by acquiring Inchcape Retail UK, adding 54 dealerships to our portfolio and further expanding our reach into new regions, including the Midlands and North West of England.

Today, Group 1 Automotive stands as one of the largest and most respected automotive retail groups in the UK.
